Working with Message Templates

Message templates as used to format the notifications that are sent to the customer and/or any additional email addresses that you specified in the Status settings.

Email Notifications are sent to customers that have an email address in their account, or customers that checked out using an email address.

SMS messages are sent to customers that have a phone number in their customer account, or customers that checked out using a phone number.

Select Template to Edit

You can search for Status Templates or select a Status Template from the list.

If you do not see the Status listed, double-check to make sure that you have selected the option in the status settings to email the customer, or have email addresses listed in the additional emails field.

Once you have located the status template you wish to edit, select Email Template

The body of the email can be customized with a simple editor.

The Email body supports HTML/CSS and Liquid code.

There is also an extensive list of short codes that can be used to personalize the message with order and customer information.

The simple editor may not be able to support all liquid codes, so if you are having trouble with if/else loops and other code in the template, you may consider using the standard editor.

Preview Email

This capability shows a preview of the email template using data from a sample order so you can see what the email will look like prior to sending it to a customer.

Short Codes

Short Codes are small snippets that allow you to insert dynamic content into the email and SMS messages. For example, if you place the snippet {{order_number}} in your message template, it will be replaced with the actual order number when the message is sent to the customer. You can find a complete list of short codes by pressing Short Codes at the top of the page.

Custom Liquid filters

Like Shopify, our app supports liquid filters that can be used to format information or provide calculations.

Message Translations

When communicating with customers, it is possible to translate the messages into different languages. The language used for communication with a particular customer is determined by their "Locale" setting in Shopify. A customer's Locale is determined by the language selected on your shop at the time of their account registration or transaction.

If the customer's locale is not set or if you do not have a translation for their locale, the default message template will be used.

Create Message Translations

1. Select "Add Translation"

2. Select the desired language to add

3. Once selected, you will see the language option for the template under the column Translations.

4. You can edit the translated template separately from your default and toggle between the two for editing purposes. Click save when you are done editing.
